The tour begins in Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca empire, continuing to the city of Mollepata (near the Apurimac River) until reaching one of the 7 wonders of the modern world, the sacred city of Machu Picchu.
Those people interested in doing this trekking should know that it is highly recommended to be in good physical shape, as we are facing a very demanding trekking, walking for 4 days through stretches of great slopes.
During the hike through one of the ancient Inca trails, we will not only enjoy the typical flora and fauna of the Andes, but we will also visit some native villages and observe unforgettable snow-capped landscapes.

Early at dawn we will be picked up by a private transport from the company that will transfer us to the village of Mollepata (2,800 meters above sea level).
From Mollepata we will start our tour accompanied by the team of porters.
The beginning of the route consists of a gradual ascent along an Inca trail that crosses the Apurimac River canyon.
During the trip, we will cross some traditional buildings, the characteristic flora and fauna of the area and spectacular views of the snow-capped Humantay.
The day will end with camping in Soraypampa at 3,900 meters above sea level. From this point, we will have a privileged view of the Apu de Salkantay (god of the mountain for the Inca culture) located at 6,270 meters above sea level.
Time from Cusco to Mollepata: 4h 30m

Walking distance: 10 Kms
We will have an early breakfast to leave the Apacheta Pass at 4,650 meters above sea level. This trip will take about 3 hours.
From this point we can observe the magnificent mountain range formed by Salkantay and other nearby snow-capped mountains.
Afterwards, we will descend to Wayrachmachay where we will make a stop to rest and have lunch.
We will continue our trekking along the left bank of the Salkantay River, appreciating how the landscape of the area varies, going from mountainous system to the characteristic rainforest.
The second day ends in Andenes, a point on the route where we will descend to 2,889 meters above sea level.

On the morning of the third day we will reach the Valle del Río Santa Teresa, one of the easiest parts of the tour.
After three hours of hiking (approximately) we will arrive at an area of the mystical and characteristic cloud forest, a beautiful place where we will observe first hand the diversity of the high Peruvian jungle.
We will continue our tour until we reach the campsite in Lucmabamba, where we will spend the night.
At this point we will have a demonstration and tasting of coffee offered by one of the local families.

We will depart from Lucmabamba ascending towards Llactapata pass located at 2735 meters above sea level. From this point we will descend for 3 hours (approximately) to reach the Inca archaeological site of Llactapata.
We will visit the ruins and have the first views of the sacred city of Machu Picchu from a distance.
At this point we’ll take a break for lunch and get our strength back.
We will descend towards the Hydroelectric Power Station to take the local train (45 minutes) that will take us to the small town of Aguas Calientes. Once there we can relax in its famous hot springs.
After the bath, we will transfer to the hotel to rest since the next day we must get up very early to go to Machu Picchu.

Very early in the morning we will take a bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu (6 km).
Once inside the enclosure we will have a guided tour of about 2-3 hours in which we will visit the main places of interest such as the’ Intihuatana‘ (sundial ceremonial clock), Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Water, Temple of the Condor or The Room of the Three Windows.
Once the visit to Machu Picchu is over, we will return to Aguas Calientes where we will take the train back to Cusco and finish our tour.
Arrival time in Cusco will be approximately 8:00 pm.
